Planted out Brussels sprout Napoleon, hispi summer cabbage and broccoli ironman. Will plant some more later in the season to avoid a glut.

Lots of activity at home

The strawberry's are starting to come back to life. The greenhouse is full with seedlings waiting to be transplanted into the allotment. The brassica seedlings are in the cold frames hardening off.

Garlic and onions are growing well

Garlic was the first thing we planted back in November last year and it is growing very well. The onion sets went in in the middle of April and they are still covered to protect them from the birds pulling them up.

Planting has started

1st, 2nd and main crop potatoes are planted. We have planted Aaron Pilot, Red Duke of York, Kestrel, Sarpo Mira and Cara.

Allotment progress

We took over an allotment in October 2012 and as it had not been worked for a few years it was covered in weeds, out of control raspberry canes and strawberry runners. We draw up a plan and here is the progress we have made
